Valuation of Paintings for Insurance:
The only person that can give an appraisal that will satisfy an insurance company, or an auction house, is an accredited, professional art appraiser. For the original paintings* we recommend: Nicolas Tuele, Victoria BC | www.ntuele.com
When you contact Nicolas, provide a clear photo, dimensions, an honest appraisal of the painting's condition, and copies of any documentation you might have, such as a receipt, certificate of authenticity, anything provided by the gallery who made the original sale, etc.
*Off-Set Lithographic Prints of Graham's watercolours that were produced and sold out in their hundreds during the back-end of the last century, sadly, have little or no market value, and are certainly not worth appraising. This is mostly because they are not 'archival', i.e. the printing process used dyes that fade (unlike our archival giclée prints), and partly because too many were produced (by unscrupulous art publishers), flooding the market and reducing the value of the prints accordingly. Having said all that, they are beautiful images and their value is in the enjoyment they give you; which is, after all, why Graham painted them in the first place...
